The message of Drink Up, an initiative of the Partnership for a Healthier America, was simple: You are what you drink – and when you drink water, you drink up.
Grassfed Media created the social media campaign’s structure and themes, and we made a vibrant series of illustrations to help them meet their goals.

Capturing attention with storytelling
Before starting the campaign, we created a template so that we could follow Meta’s rules around text / image ratios. Establishing the template early allowed us to focus on the creative content and imagery rather than worrying about guidelines and constraints.
Throughout the engagement, we created several themes to create continuity and explored a variety of styles. It helps keep audiences, and us, engaged! While scrolling, audiences might have encountered a water bottle that likes exercise or joined a family of glasses and cups that love relaxing. Or when the seasons changed, we marked it with an ever-changing glass.
We utilized several tools: pens and paper, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and even markers… whatever worked for the message.
Applying our unique experience with comic book illustration and book design for a social media campaign can seem incongruous. Storytelling across long campaigns is a way to capture attention positively instead of leading with facts and numbers. Using bright colors and a joyful tone makes it all the more satisfying.
Social media campaigns are competing for a lot of attention across numerous apps. Working on campaigns that have a singular vision on select channels allows for creative storytelling that delivers better results.
